What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a targeted cosmetic procedure that addresses specific skin concerns like fine lines, age spots, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and uneven skin texture. This treatment uses precise laser energy to carefully remove damaged skin layers, encouraging the production of new collagen in the underlying skin. As a result, fresh, smooth skin gradually emerges, offering a more youthful, even-toned appearance.

There are two main types of laser resurfacing: ablative and non-ablative. Ablative lasers remove layers of skin for more dramatic improvements in deeper wrinkles and scars, while non-ablative lasers are gentler, targeting deeper skin layers to stimulate collagen without removing surface skin. Treatments can be customized in intensity and depth, offering a range of options to address everything from mild texture issues to more prominent signs of aging. With proper care, results can last for years, making laser resurfacing a preferred option for those seeking noticeable, lasting skin improvements.

What are the benefits of the MOXI laser

Moxi laser treatments are considered to be the most effective way to treat pigmentation issues, such as melasma, which can be exacerbated by other laser procedures. Moxi technology is much lighter and gentler, enabling it to be combined with Broad Band Light (BBL) therapy

  • A quick, cost-effective procedure that can be carried out in less than half an hour

  • The procedure involves single-use tools, ensuring that optimal hygiene is maintained throughout

  • There is no long recovery period or downtime following the treatment

  • Patients won’t experience much redness after the treatment

  • There is minimal swelling (if any)

  • Post-procedural instructions are simple (no wearing makeup or doing any heavy exercise for 24 hours)

Melasma is in the past

The MOXI has technology that gently removes the very top layer of the skin where pigment from melasma resides. This gently removes this pigment while avoiding the same irritation that other laser procedures cause could cause melasma to become worse. This makes it safe and effective to remove melasma without risking a worsening.

How many treatments will I need?

Most people can expect to enjoy their results for about 6 months on average making this a twice a year treatment. However, if this is your first time encountering corrective laser therapy, and depending on the degree of repair that is needed, you practitioner may recommend a series of three spread apart by 6 weeks which then can be followed by a twice-a-year maintenance routine.

How much does moxi cost?

The Moxi Laser for the face costs $599 per treatment.

Moxi Laser treatments:

  • Face: $599

  • Face + Neck: $599

Is there any downtime or restrictions after the Moxi?

Immediately after the treatment you will look and feel like you have a mild sunburn. This will resolve shortly followed by a light flaking of the skin called MEND (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris) which is the pigment in the epidermis shedding off (what we want!). During this time, you will want to keep post-care products on your skin and avoid hot, direct sunlight. However, there is no true downtime in the sense that it is not necessary to take off work or avoid day-to-day social activities.

Because this is a non-ablative fractionated treatment, the post care regimen is simple. Wear a moisturizing physical sunscreen and stay out of the sun. You may wear makeup 24 hours after your treatment

How does Moxi work?

Moxi™ delivers fractionated laser energy to create micro-coagulation zones which the body then repairs, replacing damaged cells with fresh new ones. Moxi™ is designed to provide tonal and textural improvements to your face with low downtime, resulting in skin renewal

How comfortable is the treatment?

Depending on the intensity of the treatment provided, most patients find the treatment well tolerated. Your practitioner will use numbing cream to help ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible.

How quickly do I see results?

Results appear once MEND (Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris) fall off and the new skin takes its place. For most patients this happens between days 3-5. We recommend scheduling an exfoliation facial about 5 days after which allows our aestheticians to gently remove any roughness that is left and apply products that will optimize healing ensuring you see the best results possible.

WHAT TO AVOID before getting a Moxi?

It is best to avoid prolonged sun exposure, and especially a sunburn, right before a Moxi. Often people will benefit from Tretinoin or Hydroquinone pre-treatment for one month before a Moxi, however this will be up to your provider.
